Abstract :
This paper presents a template-based approach for the study of simulation and digital communication developed for use in a graduate-level course in wireless communication. The simulation templates and subsequent original student work are implemented using a graphical block-oriented package. To accelerate the learning process, students are exposed to modeling and simulation via two templates. These templates are also designed to reinforce the extremely important inter-play between theory and simulation. To promote teaming skills, students are organized into groups of two or three for exercises based on the templates and for further investigation of a particular topic
