Abstract :
We propose a residential energy management methodology to optimize electricity consumption in smart grid systems. The proposed scheme generates intelligent residential power schedules according to user-specific demands. Dynamic energy allocation to electrical appliances with smart meters and static daily usage assignment are optimized simultaneously, so it is called iHOME. Experimental results show that iHOME outperforms other methods, including unoptimized, random and the pioneer work iHEM from 4.68X to 25.89X for specific appliances; from 1.25X to 1.98 X for total daily usage while the computation time is significantly shorter. This results make iHOME effective and efficiently in terms of electricity cost and CO2 emission.
