Abstract :
The phenomenon of spatial diffusion of stored energy between excited and not excited ions has been experimentally studied under conditions of high concentration of dopant and high pump gradient. Direct measurements of the diffusion coefficient as well as lifetime of the excited state in laser crystal Yb3+(21 at.%):Gd3Ga5O12 have been conducted by the method of tunable transient gratings.
