Abstract :
In this work, a modified recursive least squares parameter estimation method is used to identify the parameters of the freeway traffic flow model online. Based on the parameters identified online, adaptive control strategy is introduced to deal with the ramp metering problem. Intensive simulations show the effectiveness of the identification method and the adaptive ramp metering based on the parameters identified works well.
