Abstract :
In the present study, we evaluated the ability of carbon filaments to function as ascaffold for the regrowth ofinjured axons in the rat spinal cord. Through different axonal tracing methods, severed spinal axons were observed growing on and between carbon filaments implanted into completely transected rat spinal cords. In addition, somatosensory evoked potentials were recorded across the lesion site in these animals.
