  • Abstract
Clinical engineering, as a profession, has come of age. This global phenomena of a professional genesis that is felt through the clinical engineering field is enhanced by the progress achieved by clinical engineers in the U.S.A. As the need for educated specialties, especially those with engineering and science skills, is increasing, so does the burden on the Clinical Engineering profession to assure that its members practice at the highest level possible. The commitment to practice with engineering vision, composed of knowledge, courage, leadership, value, and quality, is benefitting the U.S. healthcare delivery system.
