Abstract :
Our research explores a virtual reality application based on Web camera (Webcam). The interface can replace with mouse by the frame difference method. We divide a frame into nine grids from Webcam and make use of the background registration to compute moving object. In order to apply to virtual reality system, we use Virtools Dev as the platform to build this interface by Microsoft Visual C++. We implement a number of Building Blocks(BB) to support Virtools Dev 3.0 for driving Webcam input-interface in this composite system. The result of research is expected to digital content industries such that users can easy to use the input-interface to control browsing virtual reality. Our system can supply interactive digital content, photographs, and access the questions from the database system to request the user responding. In order to explore the acceptability of users for the system, we design the questionnaire based on the technology acceptance model(TAM). In our empirical study, we find that the perceived ease of use from TAM between the skilled computer users and the unskilled ones are significantly different and most subjects think the system is perceived usefulness.
