Abstract :
This paper deals with current electronic system design methodologies and the impact of design standards on the methods, tools and design team organization. Several standards defined by different organizations have been launched during the last years, the most relevant ones, from the designer point of view being, VHDL, EDIF, Boundary Scan and WAVES. All these standards are described and discussed in this paper, as well as their impact on current design technologies
