Abstract
The Open Microprocessor Systems Initiative (OMI) is a research and development program of the information technology area in the fourth Framework Programme of the European Union. The goal of OMI is to provide Europe with strong capabilities in microprocessor systems, and to promote their use in application systems world-wide. The author discusses the four OMI pillars, focused cluster programmes, future trends in tools and technology, future trends in system integration, exploitation of awareness and actions, and OMI technology `state of the art´
