Abstract :
Investigation of frequency tuning in volume free electron lasers with rectangular resonator is presented. Two experimental VFEL prototypes are considered. Several types of VFEL generators using different mechanisms of spontaneous radiation are analyzed. They are: undulator, Smith-Purcell and gyrotron. The optimal conditions for radiation tuning in each case are found. Comparison with experiment is given.
