Abstract :
Current Man-Machine voice communication is limited due to the difficulty in integrating voice devices into applications at a reasonable price with satisfactory performance. Intel\´s new family of speech recognition products, the Speech Transaction Board and Speech Transaction Manager firmware, address this limitation through the introduction of the "Speech Transaction". The Speech Transaction is defined as a set of functional requirements necessary to implement any Speech I/O based solution. These requirements are met in an efficient and user-friendly manner through the STB hardware combined with the STM firmware operating system. The STB is based on speaker-dependent isolated word recognition utilizing Intel\´s 8086, 8748, and 2920 VLSI chips. The STM is 64 Kbytes of firmware which allows the user-systems designer to perform speech recognition I/O via inidividual speech transaction files formed through a speech transaction generator. The transaction philosophy implemented in Intel\´s new hardware and software speech recognition products is easily adapted to many applications with good performance at a acceptable price.
