Abstract :
Proposes a colour distance measure based on the new TekHVC colour space and demonstrates its application to the problem of colour image segmentation. Two segmentation algorithms are presented and compared-relaxation at the boundaries of a split and merge and an optimal region grower. The authors conclude that the output of the region grower is the most suitable for the purposes of subsequent region grouping and object recognition
