Abstract
Presents a general method to determine the parameter density distribution f 1->M(ρ,θ) (or the f M->1(ρ,θ)) of a curve when the image points on the curve are transformed under the 1->M (the M->1) mapping. This method converts a relatively complicated problem of determining the density functions into an easier one of calculating the intersection points between the curve and the line ρ=x cosθ+y sinθ and the derivatives of the curve at these points. Moreover, the authors have found the analytical result of the parameter point spread function of an infinitely long line, a problem that has been qualitatively discussed by Brown (1983)
