Abstract
In this paper a new structure of ultrawideband (UWB) antenna with one notched band is proposed and analyzed in detail. The antenna consists of an ellipse-like radiating patch, which is actually the combination of two semi-circular patches and one rectangular patch, and a truncated ground. Band-notch characteristic has been achieved by adding a hemicycle shaped slot to the patch. The antenna operate well for UWB applications, most covers 3 GHz to 12GHz and satisfies a band rejection in the frequency span of 5 GHz to 6 GHz to restrain it from interference with Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). The antenna is designed on FR4 substrate with 0.8 mm thickness and fed with 50 ohm microstrip line with compact size of 25mm × 34 mm. The results of reflection coefficient, radiation patterns and antenna gain are illustrated and discussed. The simulation results confirm that the proposed antenna exhibits a stable radiation pattern with a small and constant group delay value less than 0.3 ns.
