Abstract
Necessary and sufficient conditions are established for the existence of a state-feedback controller for descriptor linear systems with singular pencils such that the closed-loop transfer matrix is proper and the closed-loop characteristic polynomial is equal to a desired one. A procedure for finding a gain matrix of the controller is presented and illustrated by an example
