Abstract :
The framework and key functions of a wide area synchronous dynamic security monitoring system (DSMS) is presented. This new-type wide-area DSMS is developed based on the experience of the emergency control system project in Eastern Heilongjiang power system, where phasor measurement units (PMU) are networked to provide synchronous phasor data. The DSMS is composed of three subsystems, i.e., PMU based substation, data center and analysis center. PMUs are used to measure and transfer synchrophasors in important plants and substations. The data concentrator (DC) in data center collects synchrophasors from dispersed substations, and then resynchronizes, stores and manages the collected data. Meanwhile, data center provides a "Universal Real-Time Data Interface" for the software packages used in analysis center. The analysis center integrates various well-developed functions, such as phasor data monitoring, disturbance recognition, post-event playback and low-frequency oscillation analysis. These functions employ the time-tagged phasors to fulfill the online real-time and post-disturbance analysis of the concerned power system. The key issues in implementing such a system are discussed. And some results of the dynamic simulation about the new-type DSMS are described.
