Abstract :
The structured singular value (SSV or μ) is a reasonable tool for robustness analysis of control systems with structured uncertainties. However, analysis by using μ generally needs complicated computations. In this paper, we show that computing μ of a special class of matrices, that is reciprocal, is not so complicated. The bounds of μ of reciprocal matrices are easily calculated in comparison with general matrix cases. Reciprocity is extensive notion of symmetry, which can be seen in the so-called collocated mechanical systems. It is shown that robust performance tests for such reciprocal systems are also simple
