Abstract :
We discuss an overview of the most advanced next generation optical access network architectures and technologies, followed by the presentation of results from a techno-economic study on the outside plant costs comparison among various FTTx architectures. Our study provides answers to questions posed by governments and network operators on the actual costs to pass households with a next generation access fiber-optic based network.
