Abstract
Component-based system and program construction have emerged as important topics in software engineering and distributed computer systems. This paper introduces a component model which fares better along other dimensions than its predecessors, it includes a combination of sharing, hierarchy, and an open approach to component composition and binding which we believe to be novel. It allows for a clean definition of structural composition based on containment and binding relationships between components.
