Abstract :
A transmission network architecture for metropolitan areas with a hierarchical structure and distributed allocation of cross-connection functions is proposed. This scheme results in high full-rate transmission systems by efficiently using the cross-connect systems. Cross-connection functions are distributed on the main loop. It is found that the number of cross-connection nodes does not greatly influence total network cost
