Abstract :
Since 2000 companies have been implementing IP telephony. Unified communications was the next step, flowed by Video-conferencing. In 2009 positioning and location based services were added to mobile devices. Today we are moving to social media systems. Workgroups need to share information and benefit from this new technology. In the upcoming years even more more video will be used. Telcos should prepare for loss of revenue on current support contacts, but there is potential revenue from high speed SIP links, hosted IP-PBXes, social media systems and mass storage systems.
