Abstract :
A novel knowledge representation and reasoning mechanism for qualitative reasoning in time within the framework of production systems is introduced. The approach presented provides temporal reasoning in a production system framework and supports refinement. Refinement indicates replacement of atomic events at one level of abstraction by a more detailed set of events at the next level
