Abstract
This paper presents in details a special framework, based on pseudo-chronological Monte Carlo simulation, for assessing composite reliability indices of large-scale power systems. Bearing in mind both accuracy and computational effort, the effects of the size and characteristics of the system areas on the reliability indices will be investigated. Case studies on the IEEE-RTS-1996 and on the Canadian system are presented and discussed.
