Abstract
The key issues necessary for development and implementation of a uniform integrated-services digital network (ISDN). The network issues based on the Reference Model of open system interconnection (OSI) developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO) are presented. The architecture of the ISDN according to the International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee (CCITT) is described. An overview of the telephone-system structure and a general description of the set of recommendations dealing with the characteristics of the ISDN that has been developed and agreed upon by the CCITT study group, are provided
