Abstract :
A new class of linear codes is constructed from generalized Hermitian curves. The codes are distinct from algebraic-geometric codes. It is shown that these new codes are better than some of the AG codes on Garcia and Stichtenoth (see Inventions Mathematics, vol.121, p.211-22, 1995) curves
