Abstract
In this paper, we propose a novel clustering approach for long-lived wireless sensor networks. We use genetic algorithm to partition the adjacent nodes which will sense similar data into one cluster. With similar data aggregation in the clusters, the amount of the data transmission in the network can be effectively reduced. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed approach is effective in prolonging longer lifetime and higher throughput than the current important clustering protocols.
