Abstract :
Generators in industrial plants and utility systems have been known to oscillate at subsynchronous frequencies when mechanically excited as a result of the occurrence of outside events. This form of oscillation has been known to produce severe disturbances when initiated by external system conditions and amplified mechanically by the in house generator turbine governor. This paper discusses one such case history.<>
