Abstract
A link layer controller for the PATH automated highway system (AHS) architecture is presented. The control of vehicle traffic in a multilane stretch of highway is considered. Vehicles are assumed to be of different types and have different destination. Based on a conservation of vehicles model and Lyapunov techniques, a velocity control is derived. This controller stabilizes vehicular density and velocity along the highway to predetermined profiles. Performance is illustrated by simulation results
