Abstract :
Current methods to move patient information from primary care physicians to specialists at remote locations depend on physically packaging various kinds of patient information and shipping it to distant centers. The author describes a system under development that will facilitate the digitizing, electronic packaging and transmission to specialists of patient record elements, including radiographs, and other data. The information is identified and organized for efficient use, and can be retrieved and used at the recipient´s convenience. The paper describes the system´s architecture and function, as well as field tests of a prototype version
