Abstract :
This paper provides an overview of the main state-of-the-art isolated intersection control strategies and briefly discuss pros and cons of each technique. In covers pre-timed (off-line), both vehicle and pedestrian actuated (online) and predictive (on-line and off-line) control schemes. Then, it proposes an open platform for their implementation. The example project includes first two strategies and shows that it is possible to easily change control regardless of underlying hardware or software, even during intersection normal operation.
