Abstract :
A new method for the passive locating of an unknown source by using vertical dipole receiver is presented in this paper. Firstly, the cross-spectrum of the signals received by the two-receiver array is obtained by using the vertical dipole. Then a new method of the original signal reconstruction from phase function of the cross-spectrum is presented in this paper. The time delay and the amplitude of the arrival waves can be estimated with this new method and the number of operations is reduced significantly comparing with Hayes method. At last, the complex exponential algorithm is used to develop above technique and the accurate estimation of the time delay is obtained. The new method can be used in measurement of the depth of the source, and the autospectrum of the source.
