Abstract :
The authors propose the use of the Moire deflectometry technique to determine quantitatively the refractive index distribution through a turbulent flow field. Gradient index axial symmetric phase objects are considered. Deflectogram data reduction techniques were introduced and applied to determine the index of refraction distribution for the objects under consideration. Approximate methods were tested and compared to the standard Abel inversion method. Moire deflectometry was used to measure the density distribution of a candle flame as a phase object. Both theoretical and experimental results are presented
