Abstract
In band-limited communications, the use of root-Nyquist pulse-shaping filters, such as root raised cosine (RRC), is a common premise to guarantee no inter-symbol interference (ISI) in the output from matched filtering. We have recently shown that, for correlated source symbols, some non-root-Nyquist filter is capable of increasing the mutual information of the resulting channel. In this paper, we show that performance improvement can also be achieved in terms of bit error rate.
