  • Abstract
A model showing that the rising fastball and the breaking curve ball are perceptual illusions caused by the batter misestimating the speed of the pitch is presented. The model uses only visual parameters that have been psychologically validated. It is robust with respect to its parameter values. The most sensitive parameter is the model´s input, the estimated speed of the pitch
