Abstract :
The integrated-interleaved coding scheme can be used to compensate the format inefficiency due to small block length or to save hardware cost in designing codes of very long block length. In this paper, we derive a new systematic encoding method for the integrated-interleaved coding scheme for both the special case where the second level has a single component codeword, and the general case where the second level may have multiple component codewords. The proposed method enjoys the great advantage of performing logical sum (possibly a weighted) once, whereas the state-of-the-art method in literature requires performing twice.
