Abstract :
Exact linearization is often used to design a controller for highly nonlinear systems. Perfect cancellation of the nonlinearity results in satisfactory performance; however, real world systems often imply some error in this cancellation. Metrics were introduced in a previous work for measuring the performance of such systems; the present work examines its application to a second order system demonstrating how it can be used as a design tool to meet a particular performance specification
