  • Abstract
This paper proposes a cancellation scheme of cochannel interference beyond the guard interval (GI) for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) diversity receivers. It inserts a simple spatial filter before (pre-FFT) or after (postFFT) the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) circuit in a normal maximal ratio combining-based diversity receiver, so even when the received signal is contaminated with beyond-GI co-channel interfering signals, the receiver can still work as a diversity system based on the maximal Signal-to-Noise power Ratio (SNR) criterion as if there were no co-channel interference contained in the received signal. The serial realization of the diversity system and canceller is advantageous for Large Scale Integrated (LSI) circuit implementation of OFDM receiver in terms of energy consumption.
