Abstract :
Computerized numerical control of machine tool drives is of increasing interest because of the capabilities of readily available microcomputers and VLSI circuitry. One particular problem area of interest is the development of biaxial control systems that generate predetermined paths in the presence of load disturbances and uncertainties. Results with a representative lathe motor simulation with circular trajectories, show that digital model reference and optimal control concepts are very effective procedures taking into account path errors and the presence of disturbances and uncertainties.
