Abstract
A new description of inter-columnar synchronization in cat visual cortex is suggested. The description is based on a formalism of the theory of communicating sequential processes, being developed in theoretical programming. A detector of specifically oriented moving light bar is used as an elementary process here. The authors consider an ensemble of these detectors arranged in parallel in a special manner. It is proved that the resulting system behaves in accordance with experimental data. Advantages and restrictions of suggested approach are discussed
