Abstract
The use of a point diffraction interferometer (PDI) to characterize highly aberrated wavefronts (HAWs) is proposed. The PDI is a cheap and robust interferometer that allows recording several interferograms within a region of interest (ROI). Since each individual interferogram does not usually provide fringes covering all the ROI, the aim of this communication is to develop a procedure for the joint fit of a common expansion functions able to calculate the phase in the whole ROI.
