Abstract :
A novel compact wide-band monopole antenna for mobile communication is proposed and analyzed. The parameters which affect the performance of the antenna are simulated and optimized using the finite element method. The bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 550MHz-3300MHz for VSWR (voltage standing wave ratio)<;3, covering the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM, 880-960 MHz), Global Positioning System (GPS, 1575.42 MHz), digital communications system (DCS, 1710-1880 MHz), personal communications system (PCS, 1850-1990 MHz), universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS, 1920-2170 MHz), and wireless local area network (WLAN, 2400-2484 MHz) band. Therefore, it can be applied to the existing and future mobile communication systems.
