Abstract :
Conventional blood pressure meters are based on cuff and are considered being inconvenient for daily monitoring and these are very sensitive to artifacts due to the presence of cuff. By having a cuff, the efficiency of the device will be reduced in terms of power consumption, restriction of frequency and also ease of use. This paper aimed at designing a noninvasive cuff-less blood pressure and pulse rate estimation system based on pulse transit time (PTT) technique using wavelets. This paper presents a novel algorithm and its real time implementation details for denoising ECG and PPG signals which are highly non stationary signals and finding out pulse rate and PTT using discrete wavelet transform (DWT) in MATLAB and LabVIEW. Hence two important parameters of cardiology i.e. Pulse rate and Blood pressure can be easily measured at a time from ECG and PPG signals that can continuously monitor the health of an individual with a cardiac disorder.
