Abstract :
An efficient system for pumping water using a brushless DC motor driven by a PV array is described. Development of a system model from the individual component models (array model, motor model and pump model) allows overall system performance to be predicted. Results from the project to date are promising and there is a good correlation between the model and the test results from the system. The system efficiency values, over a range of operating conditions, show a significant improvement over existing systems
