Abstract
Plants given by a 2×2 transfer function matrix are considered. Necessary and sufficient conditions are presented for the existence of a 2×2 precompensator transfer function matrix such that the resulting system is stabilizable and has a diagonal transfer function matrix. Partial extensions to systems with more than two inputs and outputs are outlined
