Abstract :
This paper proposes a new application of Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) to stabilization of frequency oscillations in an interconnected power system. The idea based on a dynamic control of tie line power is applied to stabilize the frequency oscillations of inter-area mode. The digital controller design of SSSC using the technique of overlapping decompositions and discrete eigenvalue assignment are systematically developed. Simulation study exhibits the significant effects of the proposed control
