Abstract :
Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) provides a new technology to continuously and noninvasively monitor tissue oxygenation. We have developed a novel NIRS system that monitors relative hemoglobin concentrations and regional oxygen saturation of the brain. The results of our pilot study show that our NIRS system is a promising continuous monitor of brain oxygenation during cardiopulmonary bypass 1P
