Abstract :
This paper investigates different mobility protocols (network layer mobility protocols Mobile IPv4 and Mobile IPv6, the transport layer mobility protocol mSCTP) as an approach to achieve interworking between 3G cellular networks (such as UMTS) and IEEE´s 802.11 wireless LANs (WLANs). A simulative model has been developed using OPNET to support the study. Simulation results supported mSCTP as the best approach for achieving desired interworking.
