Abstract :
Adaptive wavelet packet decomposition produces a better compression ratio for ECG signals than other traditional wavelet decompositions. Though computationally more intensive, it provides a better error control by isolating and discarding only those coefficients whose contribution is below a preset threshold. The decomposition algorithm is simple and can be implemented in real time
