Abstract :
Electronic learning(e-learning) is used to access the learning content using desktop computers. But the limitation with e-learning is its immobility. Mobile learning(mlearning) is an advanced stage of e-learning where in the learner is equipped with handheld mobile device to access the learning content using various wireless technologies. Though m-learning provides mobility, it is not context sensitive. A new mode of learning mechanism called ubiquitous learning(u-learning) is context aware and also provides learning content anywhere, anytime using various mobile devices and sensor technologies. The real challenge in u-learning is the delivery of learning content to mobile devices depending upon surrounding context. Context plays an important role in delivering the right content to the right person, in the right place and at the right time. Though there are various contextual parameters that can be considered, here we deal with location context in particular. In this paper, various mobile computing technologies, context awareness and its relevance to u-learning are discussed. Also, the usage of RFID for u-learning is explained by implementing two different models 1. RFID based Content Presentation and 2. Location Based Services(LBS) using RFID. A pilot experiment was conducted with students to evaluate the functionality of the proposed models and results are analysed for further improvements.
