Abstract
The communication analyses the properties of Random Reference Quantization [RRQ] when applied to Radix- 2 FFT both at the input interface and the inner roundings and scalings. A limited presentation of RRQ is first given. It helps to establish the diffusion equations for the variance covariance from node to node An approximate close form is given for the output noise, and compared to the Deterministic Quantization, case. It is shown that the accuracy for a single FFT computation is about twice as good for the same wordlength, and much improved for cumulated computations. Application to Power Spectral Density Estimation is dealt with as an interesting application.
